Early Coptic Tunic Front Fragment
$0.00
Finely woven and of relatively large size, this exceptional, ancient textile fragment was made to adorn the front of a Coptic man’s tunic in Byzantine/Roman Egypt, and is adorned with classical figures, some playing instruments, and various wild beasts. It has been speculated that this depicts the myth of Orpheus. The piece dates from the 3rd - 4th C AD, and has been professionally cleaned and museum mounted under glass.
