Pre-Columbian Textile (sash?) Fragment

$0.00

Exceptional pre-Columbian textile fragment, probably the bottom end of a long sash, perhaps of a warrior, made by the Chancay culture/people, of Peru. It was made with camelid fibers and very finely hand-woven, using a tapestry style weave. With original selvages (sides) this is the original width of the piece, that features extraordinary natural colors, including a deep cochineal (insect) red. The piece is in excellent condition, including the deep, original fringe, and is professionally mounted inside a lucite case. This would be an exceptional addition to any collection. Mounted and framed, 18” x 22”.
