This is an exceptional whaling sea captain’s portable writing desk, made of mahogany with walrus ivory inlays, as well a several scrimshaw tools, c. 1820. Sourced in Newport, RI more than 20 years ago. The size is 18” L x 10” D x 7” H. There’s also a hidden side drawer with a pin to prevent it from opening during turbulent episodes on the open ocean.
