Antique Mamluk Revival (Cairoware) Platter

$0.00

Completely hand-hammered and engraved, this heavy and exceptionally large, beautifully incised brass platter was probably made in Syria, and features finely wrought inlaid silver geometric and floral motifs typical of the Middle East. Mamluk revival work was produced during the 19th C, in both Syria and Egypt, often by Jewish craftsmen who were attempting to recreate the lavish and extravagant workmanship of the Islamic middle ages. In excellent condition. 14” D.
