Antique Mamluk Revival (Cairoware) Box with Silver Inlay

$0.00

Completely hand-hammered and engraved, this large and beautifully incised brass box was probably made in Syria, and features finely wrought calligraphic and geometric engravings typical of the Middle East. Mamluk revival work was produced during the 19th C, in both Syria and Egypt, often by Jewish craftsmen who were attempting to recreate the lavish and extravagant workmanship of the Islamic middle ages. 8” x 5” x 3.75”
